Mercedes 1992 onwards with distributorless ignition systems made by Bosch, Siemens & VDO.

Engine misfires on two cylinders
This is caused a faulty engine ECU that loses its driver signal to part of the ignition coil, this is a very common problem at the moment and affects all models. It is assential that the ignition coils are replaced as the new or repaired engine control unit will blow again if the old coils are left in place.

The VDO unit is a larger metal unit with two multi plugs located at the top

The Bosch & Siemens units are small black & plastic.
